Arctic fox cub - St. Paul's Island, Alaska
Arctic fox cubs (pups) are born in spring in large litters, often numbering 5–8, though up to 25 have been recorded in high-food years. Weighing only 60-90g at birth, they are born blind, deaf, and dark-furred, relying on both parents for survival. Cubs emerge from dens at 3–4 weeks old and are independent by autumn.
